Mohammed is the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Forum Against Islamophobia and Racism and the British Muslim Research Centre.
His appointment as a CRE commissioner was made in January 2004.
He completed his LLB (Hons) and LLM at UCL, University of London and was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn in 1996. He has worked as a youth and community worker, research assistant and health advocacy officer, education social worker, schoolteacher and FE college lecturer, local government lawyer and policy/project development officer.
Presently a director of FaithWise Ltd, Mohammed is an advisor to the Muslim Council of Britain. He is also a member of the government's steering group on the Commission for Equality and Human Rights, a board member of the European Network against Racism (ENAR), and trustee of several voluntary sector organisations including the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre.
Mohammed specialises in religious discrimination and provides specialist advise in this area to various government departments and statutory agencies.

Simon Barrow is a theologian, writer, adult educator and consultant.
He lives in Exeter and is the Co-Director of Ekklesia, a think-tank focussing with the role of theological ideas in public life. He jointly runs the associated Ekklesia website (http://www.ekklesia.co.uk) and is a prolific blogger.
Simon previously worked for Churches Together in Britain & Ireland for nine years.
His next book is called 'Threatened with Resurrection: The difficult peace of Christ' (DLT, 2008)

Sir Bernard Crick is a political theorist, author of In Defence of Politics, George Orwell: a Life and Essays on Citizenship.
He chaired the advisory group for the former Department for Education which led to citizenship becoming a core subject in the National curriculum for England. Then, following David Blunkett to the Home Office, he chaired the independent advisory group detailing the the requirements of language and knowledge for immigrants seeking British citizenship.
Sir Bernard is a Vice-President of the British Humanist Association.
